Welcome to the London Hackspace Radio Club, established in 2013.

We're proud to be a part of the London Hackspace: the world's largest co-operative workshop (by membership).

Recently awarded Radio Society of Great Britain National Club of the Year

The call sign of London Hackspace is M0HSL.

The shack's Maidenhead locator is IO91XM.

What is Amateur Radio, Why Do it
It's the original 'nerd' hobby- building and playing with all sorts of communication over the airwaves! For those that are curious, more info available here.

Amateur radio complements many other interest groups in the space by providing a basis for the electronic and communications technologies that allow us to effectively explore and create cool stuff.

Radio Society of Great Britain Club Affiliation
London Hackspace are an RSGB affiliated club. This means we can enter RSGB contests, get news coverage in RadCom and GB2RS easily and probably get some general promotion for the space, generally good things.

Meetings, Events & Radio Shack Availability
Meetings are monthly and normally held on the first Saturday, at 14:00.

The radio shack is available to members of the amateur radio club (and stewarded guests) 24 hours a day.

Study Courses & Exams
There are three levels of licensing in the United Kingdom: Foundation, Intermediate, and Full. The first licence content (classroom and practicals) is typically taught on a Saturday with the exam on the following Sunday. Intermediate courses usually take a bit longer as it includes more practical coursework (soldering, kit assembly, radio operation) and assessment. The final licence stage is often done through a combination of guided conversations and self-study.

One new radio enthusiast's testimonial of acquiring all three licenses at another club is here.

We have the following courses so far for 2015:
* Full Licence Self-Study Guidance & Subject-Matter Catch-Ups

What?
An outing of the merry band of LHS amateur radio people, either licensed or otherwise.

This is an initial outing so we can familiarise ourselves with what's required to setup a /P radio station.

When?
2nd-4th August 2013 (Friday->Sunday).

Interesting events:
* 3rd August: 2m backpackers contest
* 4th August: 70cm lower power contest

Where?
Dominic has offered a field in Dorset, near Rampisham. This is *just* a field - but it is over the valley from the old Rampisham HF transmitting station, so is a good location to work from.

Who?
* tgreer - M6LRS
* Paul Lettington - M0PLL (not sure if I can be there for the whole weekend)
* Samuel - 2E0SKF
* Tent
* Sleeping equipment
How about "Don't do anything dodgy. Avoid getting the space on junk mail lists."?
It will help if your full name is on your personal box so your delivery of components can be thrown in your box instead of lost in the general clutter someone in the space.
The people at unit 22 arrive around 9AM, we have occasionally accepted early morning deliveries for them. If nobody is going to be around to give it to them it may be better to suggest the delivery person leaves it with the security guard at the business center entrance.

Details of items delivered to the space for specific individuals, or items expected to arrive at the space.

We should perhaps describe here the policy for sending post to the space - do we have one?

How about "Don't do anything dodgy. Avoid getting the space on junk mail lists."?

It will help if your full name is on your personal box so your delivery of components can be thrown in your box instead of lost in the general clutter someone in the space.

The people at unit 22 arrive around 9AM, we have occasionally accepted early morning deliveries for them. If nobody is going to be around to give it to them it may be better to suggest the delivery person leaves it with the security guard at the business center entrance.

See also Guides/Bringing_items_to_the_space if you are considering getting anything big delivered. If you get something huge delivered, such as a fruit machine, it may get scrapped if you have not informed the mailing list, labeled it and got it out of peoples way pronto.
