As a longstanding member with considerable experience of the Hackspace's workings and of directorship I would be delighted to serve again and to help the Hackspace to move on to the next phase of its life.
Since joining the space in 2021 I loved every minute of our time at Ujima house. I dabbled in all areas of the space but was mostly to be found in the metal and wood shops. I helped with many aspects of maintenance there and in 2022 began running training sessions, mostly focused on the mill and lathe.
Since the move in 2022 I have been working hard to help us find options for a future Hackspace. After the temporary arrangement began at EX2 I have run several of the weekly members sessions, and used my CAD background to help draw up plans and costings for several options of fit-out to make the space something we can all make use of.
As a director, my first priority would be to get us an open Hackspace again for all members to make use of - while we may not be able to get back all the functionality we had at Ujima overnight, with a little effort I believe we can get the EX2 space safely open and ready for members to make the best use of, and start rebuilding the LHS community.
Beyond that, I will work hard to help us find the best possible long-term home - whether that is by applying for grant funding to build a multi-storey expansion for EX2, or continuing to look out for alternatives that might suit us better in the long run.
I have been a Hackspace member for 12 years now and a Trustee for a substantial part of that. I have been involved in both the practical and organisational aspects of the space - administration, organisation, infrastructure, maintenance etc., plus tool maintenance and training. It has been an incredibly useful resource for me, both physically and socially, I have both learned much and gained a lot of friends over the years; and I'm always happy to reinvest those gains wherever possible.
The smooth running and continuation of the LHS will always remain dear to me, and I look forward to continuing the adventure.
Hi,
I’ve been a member of LHS since 2019, and was co-oped to the board last year. Although there have been challenges along the way, I am keen to continue helping get the hackspace back on its feet and operational ASAP. Not least of all because I have a number of projects that have been put on hold due to us being closed! My interests span what of what the hackspace has to offer, be that electronics, metal working, wood working or 3d printing.

London Hackspace Trustees are chosen by the membership with a ranked-choice vote. Members are asked to rank prospective trustees; the voting process then combines these rankings and the positions for election are filled by the top candidates.

Voting
The Meek STV voting method will be used (explanation).

All paid-up members at the time of the election will receive a link by email to the voting form. The voting is run by the independent service OpaVote.

You will be asked to place all the candidates, with your favoured candidate at the top and your least favoured candidate at the bottom of the list.

What?
Our weekly meeting, where people hang out and hack on projects, socialise and collaborate. Bring beer or other beverages, or snacks if you like.

When?
Every Wednesday from around 7:00pm until people go home; which is generally very late.

Where?
Our interim space in Park Royal. 41-43 Standard Rd NW10 6HF.

Nearest Train/Tube Stations: Wembley Central served by London Overground and Bakerloo Underground lines and Wembley Stadium served by Chiltern Railways.

Several TfL bus routes stop nearby.

Who?
Everyone is welcome, both members and non-members. It tends to be a nice mix of regulars, irregulars and new faces.

Why?
* Simply to take a look around, see the Laser Cutter, etc. and have a chat.
* Because you want to hack on projects but don't get time.
* Because you need help with something.
* Because you want to see the space and play with our equipment before becoming a member.
* Because we have tools you need to use that you don't have at home.
* Because you just want to hang out with like minded people.
* Because you want to get involved with the organisation of the London Hackspace.

Pub?
We used to go to a nearby pub, but given our new space is so lovely we tend to stay there and consume all the beer on the premises.

Sometimes, we go to the pub when we run out of beer on the premises.

What happens?
* MAKING of THINGS.
* WRITING of CODES.
* EATING of PIZZAS.
* DRINKING of BEERS.
* Other stuff. This is by no means a comprehensive list.

You can find photos of some of the stuff we've done in our Hackspace Flickr Pool.

What?
Our weekly meeting, where people hang out and hack on projects, socialise and collaborate. Bring beer or other beverages, or snacks if you like.

When?
Every Wednesday from around 7:00pm until people go home; which is generally very late.

Where?
Our interim space in Park Royal. 41-43 Standard Rd .

* MAKING of THINGS.
* WRITING of CODES.
* EATING of PIZZAS.
* DRINKING of BEERS.
* Other stuff. This is by no means a comprehensive list.
Constitution
A PDF of our constitution is on the main website. It outlines the objectives and structure of the organisation, the role of trustees (directors), the proceedings of our General Meeting, and other affairs.

The objects of the LHS (as mandated by our constitution) are:
# to promote and encourage technical, scientific, and artistic skills through social collaboration and education; and
# to provide and maintain shared community workspace and equipment in Greater London.
Various legislation, compliance, etc
* As a not-for-profit, we do not need to register with the Information Commissioner for our members list. We do not process any other personal data.

At the current time we have a limited number of trainers for the machine tools, therefore we are running training for both machines on this one list (we may go back to keeping separate lists in future in which case this page will become redundant)

Please add your details to the bottom of the list below indicating which machine you would like to be trained on first. Once you've had an induction on one machine, you can re-add yourself to the bottom of the list and queue up for an induction on the second machine

In general if you are beginning in machining we recommend starting with the lathe - this tool is really at the heart of most machining operations and understanding how to cut on it is key to understanding other machines such as the mill. If you are more experienced then you can start with whichever machine best suits your project needs

For information on the pre-requisites for training as well as records of inductions that have already happened please see the individual training pages:

In order to get a place on a training session you will need to watch for announcements on the 'lhs-induction-requests' channel on the hackspace Discord server

Lathe Training

Bridgeport Mill Training

Waiting List
X - name / membership number / preferred machine / skill level

# Claude / HS6182 / lathe / basic use in school under supervision
# Sara / HS34984 / Mill / understand some of the theory, never milled anything
# Mauro / HS31758 / Lathe and Mill / newbie
# Simon / HS35131 / Both / none

Note - members who have been on the waiting list for more than 6 months without taking up the offer of a training slot will be removed from the list - this is because a long waiting list sometimes puts off new members as it looks like they will have a very long wait for training. If there's been a particular reason for the absence (e.g. been out of London for a while) then this can easily be extended. And members are more than welcome to re-add themselves to the bottom of the list if they want to later on

London Hackspace's ultimate governance lies with the elected Board of Trustees, who are the directors of London Hackspace Ltd. The trustees exist to ensure the long-term health of the space as an organisation.

Although some trustees are also very active members of the community, it isn't the trustees' duty to handle day-to-day running of the space. This is handled by members themselves.

Responsibilities
Trustees are responsible for:

* Making sure that London Hackspace is operating in accordance with its goals.
* Making sure that we stay on the right side of the law.
* Ensuring that the organisation is financially healthy.
* Setting the constitution and rules of the space, in consultation with the members.
* Formally warning and banning members in accordance with the Grievance Procedure.

Getting In Touch
* Trustees lurk on IRC 24/7, see below for a list of nicks.
* At least one trustee will be around on Tuesdays during the social night (schedule permitting), just ask around for a trustee.
* You can email [mailto:trustees@london.hackspace.org.uk trustees@london.hackspace.org.uk]
** Note: this email address is not the best way to get in touch with the community. To contact our members please refer to GettingStarted#Communication.

Becoming a Trustee
Elections for trustees are held yearly. A minimum of one third of the board places are up for election by rotation every year. There is no limit on the number of terms a trustee can serve.

Prospective trustees should be:

* A respected member of the community.
* A paid-up member of London Hackspace.
* Able to spend time in the space on at least two days per month.
* Able to spend some considerable time keeping abreast of and dealing with current issues on email and IRC etc..
* Not disqualified from directorship of a UK company.

Applications from women and minorities are especially encouraged.

Note that the Trustees of late are quite busy, communicate on a daily basis and the expectation is that all should take an active role in proceedings, to be available at short notice to discuss and deal with issues, and to help with the fair distribution of the workload.

London Hackspace is an inclusive community where all our members and visitors should feel welcome. This code applies to everyone's conduct on all public communication channels as well as at the Hackspace itself.

This code of conduct is in addition to the Rules which cover safety and the ethos of the space.

# It is unacceptable to harass or discriminate against others for any reason.
# Keep all communication civil and keep swearing to a minimum; if you can't make a comment politely and persuasively, don't make it at all. Your conduct reflects on the image of the Hackspace as seen by outsiders.
# Public trolling is never appropriate.
# Personal attacks will not be tolerated.
If you ignore these guidelines you will initially be warned or moderated. Subsequent offences may result in you being banned from the mailing list or IRC. Additionally, the trustees may start proceedings under the Grievance Procedure.
If you witness any persistent breaches of this code, or have any other concerns, please contact the trustees at [mailto:trustees@london.hackspace.org.uk trustees@london.hackspace.org.uk]. The trustees are powerless to fix problems they aren't aware of.

I have been a Hackspace member for 11 years now and a Trustee for a substantial part of them, and have been heavily involved in both the practical and organisational aspects of the space, be it administration and organisational stuff, infrastructure maintenance etc., or tool maintenance and training.
LHS has been an incredibly useful resource for me, both in terms of the material facilities and also the membership, many of whom have become good friends over the years; I have learned a lot, continue to do so, and like to exercise my obligation to reinvest my knowledge and experience gained both here and outside, back into the space and the community.
The smooth running and continuation of the London Hackspace has always, and will remain dear to me, and I look forward to continuing the adventure with the current challenge of a new premises for the new year.

Liyang HU
A relative newcomer to LHS—although not to hackspaces—I seem to have thrown myself in at the deep end with its upkeep and organisation in the past six months.

Professionally I'm a software engineer with a maths & CS background, with interest in science & engineering. Initially I joined to get my hands greasy with metal machining; that soon expanded to a fair bit of woodworking. I'm also a somewhat-lapsed electronics hobbyist; I don't shy away from the odd bit of knitting or crafting either.

LHS is an amazing place, with our collection of otherwise-inaccessible resources. But the social aspects are equally important—it's always fascinating to see what other members are doing, helping whenever I can, while learning as much as I can. We have huge potential, and many enthusiastic members. As a trustee, I want to help focus that energy towards making a better space. Here's a sample of what I think we
need:

• A formal induction to, and on-going reinforcement of the hackspace ethos; • Better equipment maintenance, and no-blame breakage reporting; • Reinvigorate a sense of community with regular events and updates; • Expand our outreach, and give new members a more welcoming and less confusing experience; • A more general and accessible science lab for hobbyists and learners.

We have clearly suffered in many aspects over the pandemic, along with the loss of our Wembley home. As we move to new premises, I look forward to continue supporting LHS, trustee or otherwise!

Member of LHS for four years, since joining in 2019. I frequently make use of the facilities and already regularly volunteer to assist with the smooth running of the Hackspace. I would like to continue giving back to the community and I believe I have a lot to contribute at a high standard, from both a practical and organisational perspective, as a Trustee.
Technical experience at the Hackspace: maintaining the network infrastructure, AC node/doorbot systems, and power infrastructure; systems design
As a Trustee, I would work with the other trustees to help identify and assess a suitable new location for the Hackspace. Once a new space is secured, I would love to assist with designing and implementing the network and power infrastructure, and AC node system as I am keen to ensure these core systems transition to the new location smoothly.
Padskihttps://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/w/index.php?title=File:ArthurMugshot2022.jpg&diff=55403File:ArthurMugshot2022.jpg2023-01-04T11:51:53Z
Padski:

Statement: Member of LHS for four years, since joining in 2019.
