Dust Extraction Experiments

Log of some dust extraction/separation experiments for the LHS dusty workshop and/or the workshop in General.

Ideas

First experiment is to build a portable dust collector like Mathias Wandel's design. He actually built two, and links are in the research section below, but our first step is to make a blower:

Reesearch

Thien cyclonic separator

The best designs seem to be based on the Thien design:

Mathias Wandel’s design wood be a good first attempt:

A blog about ‘John’s’ build of his dust extractor with some good tips and links:

Making the cyclone out of transparent materials would be super cool:

then we could put some LED’s all over it…

Would like some electronics - showing motor speed, current draw, air speed and how about bucket fill level?

Another lovely clear one:

Thien’s original page on his

but that has inlet and outlet ports on the top…

Online book/training about Ducting that would be worth a read
