When you're pondering questions of diversity in tech: remind yourself that an interest in technology for technology's sake is highly unusual. Most people care more about the rest of life. Instead of trying to cater your own tech activities to "minority groups", appreciate that there are many other hacker/maker activities where technology only plays a tangential or supportive role.
