Transport

Cycling

  • There is a cycle hire station around the corner on Pritchards Road, other stations on Regents Row near Broadway Market and Goldsmiths Row
  • If coming on your own bike feel free to secure your bike to any of the fencing around the yard, being careful not to block the main gates. Be aware that our yard is not 100% secure, so take the same precautions you would if locking up on the street.

Bus

  • Local bus stops: 26, 48, 55 are right next to the entrance on Hackney Road. 55 connects with 205 or Northern Line to King's Cross. Mare St around the corner: 106, 254, others. The 394 bus to Angel and Homerton is a 2-minute walk away, at the other end of Pritchards Road. The 236 bus is at the end of Broadway Market, and leads to Shacklewell Lane/Kingsland Rd, just North of Dalston Junction.

Tube/Train

  • It's a 10-minute walk from Bethnal Green tube station, and around the corner from the Cambridge Heath National Rail station served by trains to/from Liverpool Street. Both of these stations are in TfL Zone 2.
  • It's about a 15-minute walk or 5-minute cycle ride from Hoxton overground station. There are cycle hire stations at both ends of the way.

Motor Vehicle

  • We have a yard with ample parking available accessible through our back gate in Emma Street. It's free to park here if you're visiting the space, but you shouldn't leave your car here for more than an hour or two if you're not around.
  • If you want to leave anything in the yard for a longer amount of time, you'll need to ask for permission from the mailing list in accordance with the Rules.

Boat

  • The nearest visitor moorings on the Regent's Canal are at Old Ford Lock near the southern tip of Victoria Park, approximately 15 minutes' walk from the space
  • For larger vessels the nearest marina is St Katharine's Docks on the near Tower Hill.

Visiting from outside London

Get an Oyster card

Not having an Oyster card is a tax on tourists. A zone 1 single costs £4 without a card, but only £1.90 with one. The amount you pay is capped at the price of an equivalent travelcard, so unless you get one with your rail ticket, it's guaranteed to save you money.

A card is a £5 deposit and doesn't expire. You can also use it to open our door if you're a member.

Tips for travel from UK

Oxford

Get the Oxford Tube from the High St to Victoria Station. It's slightly cheaper than the train (unless you're buying a couple of weeks in advance), and includes free Wifi and power sockets at your seat.

Walk to Victoria station for the District line, and change at Whitechapel for Hoxton. Alternatively, get the Victoria line to Highbury & Islington, and approach from the north. Both of these will take you on the East London line to directly outside the space.

Cambridge

The cheapest option is to get a Super Saver Return ticket for Greater Anglia services only. This will get you to Liverpool street station, from where you can get the 55 bus, or the Central line to Bethnal Green.

You can also go to King's Cross and from there take the Northern Line two stops to Old Street, then walk (~15 minutes) to the space, or take the Victoria Line north to Highbury & Islington then take the overground to Hoxton station.

Travel from Cambridge station is about 1 hour 45 minutes via any of these methods.

From outside UK

If you're arriving at Heathrow, avoid the Airport Express at Heathrow - it's expensive and only faster for very specific journeys, but the directions at the airport make it easy for you to take it by mistake. Use the Underground (Piccadilly) if possible
