Build Plans Currently the space is simply an open plan area (with hopefully soon to be completed enclosing walls), this provides very limited scope for providing hackspace faciities. Therefore some construction work will be necessary.
Interim Plan
We have come up with plans which would allow an affordable construction of four enclosed workshops (clean metal, dirty metal, wood handtools, wood machines) and an extra floor on top of these with an open plan area of the same total size for our other facilities (laser cutter, 3d printing, electronics, sewing, model making, etc). This will allow us to provide the same range of facilities as in our previous location.
It is proposed that we spend in the region of £15k from our reserves in order to build this and fit it out.

Long Term Plan
The intention if and when such funding is secured is to construct a 2 floor steel framed structure. This would provide more flexibility in layout as there is a much reduced need for internal support (a maximum of three columns rather than three spline walls) and also an "attic" for member boxes, servers etc.
It would also be fitted out with high end dust and fume extraction from the workshops as well as Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning to give all members are clean, healthy and pleasant environment to work in.
This will of course require more substantial expenditure so we are pursuing funding, starting with applying for a grant from the HS2 development which passes near the space. We are cautiously optimistic about securing this, but <other grants or crowd funding>.
