Risk Assessment - Electronics

This risk assessment is intended to provide guidance on the risk associated with the above equipment and activities in normal use. Please also check general risk assessments for the space as a whole. Any discrepancies, errors or concerns should be raised with the document maintainers or trustees - do not edit this assessment directly. MED - Control measures may be adequate, co-supervision is recommended

HIGH - Do not undertake activity without further consultation with area specialists

Sewing Machine - Damaged Parts User - exposure to moving parts LOW Always visually inspect machines before use, where guards are fitted adjust for your finger size before operating. Report any damage or concerns. LOW LOW
Electrical Safety User - shock, burns. All building users - Fire LOW Always visually check the machine before use, ensure there is no visible damage and that electrical leads and connectors are in good condition. Report any defects. LOW LOW
Puncture injury from needles & pins (machine or hand) User - puncture injury LOW Do not place fingers closer than instruction manual allows (machines) Use guards where appropriate. Use thimbles where appropriate. Training & advice available LOW LOW
