Gotta argue with "pronunciation issues rule out names like Dijkstra, Kay and Hoare." Kay and Hoare might be inconvenient in general conversation, but surely it's not unreasonable to learn how to say Dijkstra ? Wikipedia even has an audio sample (it's roughly 'Dexter').
