Organisation/2024 Trustees Election/Candidates
Jonathan Hodgson
In civilian life I work as a Freelance Software Engineer and IT consultant, but I joined the space to make things of a less virtual nature, motivated in large part by my interest in upgrading and building guitars and similar instruments and to meet like-minded people.
I was initially mostly focused on metal machining (falling down the rabbit hole of making tools to make tools to make the guitar parts I actually need to make).
Then I got caught up in organizing the woodshop tools, materials and project storage, bringing the wood lathe back into use, and before long I was spending most of my time in the hackspace working on the hackspace.
I was elected to the Board in 2021 and it has certainly been an eventful time to be a trustee.
We started this year with what might be best described as an open plan storage area and now we have functioning workshops, built by members for members. I've been involved in every stage. Conception, building, fitting out, inducting people to the space, the list goes on.
Things are progressing positively, more and more equipment is being brought into operation, new people are joining, old members have been returning, the workshops are seeing more and more use, but there is more to do and I think I can help make it happen.
