Design

Stage 1

Recreate outer-casing without clip in transparent material with enclosed sides but side loading, gives the benefit of a small change to start with and I can use it to keep sweat out on very long runs.

Stage 2

Create another outer-casing, with:

  • cut out front panel to allow access to screen.
  • side plates have "n" curves with two stops forward (shooting down) and three backwards (shooting up)

Process

As a total newbie to 3D printing I had no software installed, no expirience and no idea where to even start, so half my reason for visiting London Hackspace was to find people who had, even perhaps people with a 3D printer that I'd be able to borrow/rent etc... Anyway I'm starting on Fedora 18 running on a MBP so post-training Blender appears to be a good/recommended piece of software for designing in and Fedora has it in it's native repos so...

yum -y install blender

You then realise it's a non-trivial piece of software so you start looking for some instructions, I found this YouTube two part intro. Plus the [1].
