Half the pieces cut, all the fingers assembled. Laser cutter didn't cut all the way through at the extremities of the bed, so had to snap/scrape, file down to get some parts out. On schedule for completion. I hope!

These will be prosthetic, fingertip-to-tendon-controlled, 2x life size, fully articulated, glowing hands, for the purposes of throwing huge shapes at music festivals and other events suitable for glowing freaky things.

I've built a finger prototype out of lego: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8zPzE80ygk I've designed (most of) the parts for cutting on the laser: 2z6ayxi.png

It'll be cut from 3mm acrylic, with nylon snap-fastenings for hinges and bearings. It'll have a lightweight translucent plastic cover, with pieces cut from pingpong balls for knuckles and fingertips then a fabric outer made from white stockings. A load of white LEDs throughout the interior to light them up.

Deadline: 8th March, in time for BLOC festival. Documenting this here is part of my motivation :)
