Description
"Well, when you look into infinity you realise that there are more important things than what people do all day" - Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes
It's like an Infinity Mirror but it's a box full of "stars". Intending on making it very large (2ft x 2ft x 8inches) 15 x 15 x 9 inches.
Components
- Mirror Perspex
- LEDs
- Clear Perspex
- 1-way Mirrored Privacy Film
- Cool-temp Glue Gun + Glue Stick
- Scalpel
- Wire
- Soldering Iron, Wire Stripper
- LED Fairy lights
- electrical tape
- Spare plywood and wood scraps
Process
Prototype
- Spend forever fighting dxf files and inkscape. Eventually get design into right format for laser cutter.
- Cut out sides and back of box on laser cutter
- Cut out clear perspex front
- Apply mirrored privacy window film to one side of the clear perspex front. Trim film to exact size of perspex with a scalpel.
- Making sure everything's really clean, use cool-temp hot glue gun to glue everything together
- Glue in LEDs and attempt to wire up everything
- Explode some LEDs
Final Build
- Build perspex box using hot glue
- Steal some fairy lights instead
- Make wooden box surround
