Spinning Workshop - to be run by Liedra

This workshop aims to teach aspiring fibre crafters how to take fluffy bits of wool and make usable yarn from it.

Drop spindles will be used as the basic teaching spindle, you can either buy a very cheap one from somewhere like here: Forest Fibres (I recommend the Ashford Student for its weight and balance)

Or, if you're feeling adventurous, we can make a spindle from a bunch of fairly minor bits and bobs. This URL shows you what you will need. To be honest, the CD spindles are pretty crap, but they will work.

We'll be using top-whorl spindles because they're easiest to learn on! Later I may buy a cheap wheel and bring it in if people are interested, but since they take up space and I don't want to clutter things I am unlikely to do that without a large number of people who want to actually use it.

Anyway, please register your interest here or on the Workshops page and I'll go about working out a date. If you can't make the date, I am usually at the hackspace on Wednesday evenings, so if you would like to learn, drop me an email and let me know you're coming along and I would be more than happy to show you how to spin :-)
