Stencil Art for Beginners

A quick introduction into the basics of stencil making... following a quick discussion what equipment to use... as we are lucky and have access to lasercutters and other state-of-the-art equipment!

After we decided on a motive and all the details we'll have some hands-on cutting and spraying experience. :)

Examples:

Here is what we could probably do with stencils:

Outline for the workshop:

1. bring your idea - could be your own drawing, pic from a magazine or the interwebs...

2. let's quickly discuss and decide on technical details, complexity, colors and the "how to's"

3. cutting by hand or lasercutter etc.

4. get the cans out!

Material:

Best would be if you can Bring Your Own Stuff

BUT

i could donate some material to get started like:

  • cardboard
  • cutters
  • old cr*p vinyl records including covers we can use for the stencils
  • 3m spray mount
  • spraycans

Costs:

As i'm creating lots of my own art with spraycans i could bring some leftovers to get started... but with all things in the hackspace donations are always welcome.

I'd suggest to let me know what colors you want to use and chip in a bit of money so we could go and buy some more cans if needed...

The best shop nearby seems to be the one on bethnal green road near richmixx and bricklane:

http://www.chromeandblack.com/

maybe we can even negotiate special discounts if we buy cans there regularly?

Or you bring whatever you have left from your last mission. ;)

Ok, if you are interested in this kind of hackspace activity please leave your tag in the workshop list or some comments on the mailing list...

cheers,
