As far as I can remember, there isn't a great deal wrong with them (and I can probably give you some repair hints) but it's unlikely to be worth getting professional repairs - more of a tinkerer's job. They also contain a number of possibly-useful parts if you want to break them up - motors, HV unit, heated roller, fibre optic lens, lamp, really really messy black powder etc.
