Use the autoclave can be used for 2 main operations
 
1) sterilization of media, glassware and autoclavable equipment before a protocol
 
2) Deactivation of GMO, and GMO exposed waste and equipment at the end of the protocol
 
 
== sterilization of liquid media ==
 
Use the
* Sterilize the load using the Quick-Programme (15 psi/121 C/15 mins)
 
 
== Deactivation of liquid and solid GMO waste ==
 
* transport the waste to the autoclave in a non-drip autoclavable tray
* ensure there are no folds or containers which can trap air
* Sterilize the load using the Universal-Programme (2.1 bar/134 C/15 mins)
 
* once the programme has run, the waste should be transferred to the chemical kill bin, for final deactivation
