London Hackspace's ultimate governance lies with the Board of Trustees, who are also the directors of the company.

Responsibilities

Trustees are responsible for:

  • Making sure that the organisation is operating in accordance with its goals.
  • Ensuring that the organisation is financially healthy.
  • Setting the constitution and rules of the space, in consultation with the members.
  • Formally warning and banning members in accordance with the Grievance Procedure.

The trustees don't have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the space - this is handled by the membership.

Getting In Touch

  • Most of us lurk on IRC 24/7, see below for a list of nicks.
  • A few of us will be around almost every Tuesday during the social night (schedule permitting), just ask around for a trustee.
  • You can email trustees@london.hackspace.org.uk
    • Note: this email address is *not* the best way to get in touch with the community. To reach out to our members pls refer to GettingStarted#Communication.

Elections

Trustees are elected yearly, with the longest-serving third of the Board required to stand for re-election every year. (One third, rounded up, so 3 members will be re-elected from an 8-member board. If there is a tie for longest-serving, the board gets to pick *which* three members.)
