We need a door for the loo.  The red door that was rescued from junking is now in the workshop, between the member box shelves and the machine tools, up against the wall.  The holes have been patched and it's sanded.  It needs to be painted, first with grey undercoat, and let to dry, second with black gloss.  This will take a while because you can only paint one side at a time.  I recommend using two sawhorses, and probably take it outside if it's nice out.

Paints for this are in one of the two bags stored on the last row of member box shelves in bags marked "for cremer restoration / do not use".  There should be a clean brush soaking in the water in the shower room.

Things to keep in mind:

* Clean off the brushes and close the paint tins after each coat and when finished!  This paint should be quite easy to take off.

The big saw with the red handle is used for cutting breeze blocks to size (for irregular / thin shapes).  Thick shapes can be cut with the cold chisel and hammer.  First, go around the entire block, only chiseling 1-2mm deep.  Then keep going deeper each time and eventually it will break, leaving a nice rough surface for the mortar to stick to.

Revision as of 06:50, 22 April 2013

This is a list of things that need to be fixed or restored once we leave Cremer st. Please add anything you can think of, they will be struck off once we have confirmation that the work doesn't need to be done, or is completed.

I see a red door and I want to paint it black...

  • Clean off the brushes and close the paint tins after each coat and when finished! This paint should be quite easy to take off.
  • Don't forget the edges of the door!

Supplies

The various supplies that have been bought and stored at the hackspace are on the last row of member box shelves in plastic bags with labels on them.
