We are looking at performing a CNC conversion kit on the mill in the space
The item
No specific items have yet been selected. We might select individual components ourselves or buy a full conversion kit.
Specification
- Must be reversible - so that we can potentially return the mill in the condition that it was lent to us.
- Axes: 3 or 4 (X,Y,Z,work rotation)
- Max purchase cost: £?
- Construction: conversion kit or self-build ?
Mill
- Loaned to the space by Nigle.
- The mill in question.
- This is actually a rebranded SIEG X2, which is an exceedingly popular mini-mill.
Potential conversions
- CNC Fusion X2 conversions - Kit #5 at $559 - excludes motors, controller - but requires no physical changes to the mill. 3 axis - with upgraded ballscrews - presumably for increased accuracy.
- KDN conversion kit.
- Plans for X2 conversion - Not free
