Projects at risk
This page documents projects that are causing problems for the hackspace because they're unfinished or unmaintained.
Projects which have been abandoned are liable to be thrown away or repurposed to recover the working area and the components in them. Any project can be proposed for this treatment : this page is where the progress is noted.
THIS PAGE IS A PROPOSAL - EXPIRY DATES ARE EXAMPLES
In particular, no attempt has been made at present to contact the owners named. The action dates are therefore not yet valid.
Procedure
A project that has been noted (marked for deletion ..) should be added to this page and the date noted. The project owner - if there is one - should be contacted and must respond by updating the page within 1 month. The response may be one or more of :
- Action taken towards completing the project
- Documenting an acceptable plan to make progress on the project
- Agreement that the project should be scrapped and a plan for disposal
If this doesn't happen, the assumption is that the project will be assigned to the 3-week bin for eventual disposal. Initially, we'll say that consensus must occur for any project to be scrapped in this way. If the procedure is found to work we may be able to make the requirements less subjective. Other interested parties may change the requirements, disposal plans etc. but this will normally cause the 1 month waiting period to be restarted.
Note that the owner is not necessarily the owner of the equipment. Some projects are the property of the hackspace. The owner is the person who initially drove the project and takes responsibility for it.

Disposal
Scrap
Note that the stratasys contains many valuable mechanical components and items bought by pledge for the repair. If the machine is scrapped, it must be disassembled carefully by knowledgable people and the useful parts retained, not torn apart by mad axmen.
