This guide covers the skills and knowledge prerequisites for use of the Ultimaker 3d printers at the hackspace. The Ultimakers are very nice 3d printers and we would like them to stay that way. Please read through this doc, and make sure you are ready with a gcode file when attending for the ultimaker induction.

The Ultimakers are setup nicely for PLA, and the manufacturer recommends PLA for beginners. So initially the plan is to only permit 3mm PLA on the Ultimakers. This is necessary as switching between filaments complicates maintaining the printers and is a common source of nozzle blockage.
