Some parts of the DeWalt DW745 table saw are damaged - In particular, the fence clamp is broken on one side and the blade is blunt - These conditions make it very unsafe to use.

Let's get the parts to fix it since it's quite an expensive and necessary tool - and since it's the only one currently in use in the wood workshop

Pledge closed: Target achieved!

Update: Since the rip fence has been already ordered, the budget will be spent buying a new blade (https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeWalt-DT4351QZ-60-Tooth-Circular-Blade/dp/B0013LL88I/ref=sr_1_10) for the cost of £46

Please pay in your pledges into the hackspace(viewable on the donation page) account and make sure to use the reference SAWBLADE, once paid please mark them as PAID below.

Pledge opened: 4 April 2016

The item

  • Rip fence spare part (Link) (Item 261 on the list)
  • Circular Blade (This one should do - but please correct me if wrong)

Budget estimation

  • Rip fence: £60.99
  • Blade: £24.49

Note: I've already spotted we don't need an entire fence, so we should be able to get the fence fixed with just the parts for the end, which I've already taken it on myself to order.. If it doesn't fix the fence, I'm happy to order other parts. We still need a nice sharp new blade, regardless.

Parts have arrived - but I can't find the rest of the rip fence to attach them to. Has it been stored for safekeeping, or recycled? --Simon Hewison (talk) 14:52, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Total should be around £85.48 - I'm happy to chip in small differences on top of my pledge if small enough

Attempt to 3D-print a replacement bracket (which isn't available from De Walt as a spare part - nor was the whole fence available) failed - the layering effect of the 3d printing made it too flimsy, so I used my basic metalworking skills (not much more than being able to put together a mecanno set to be honest), and fabricated a rip fence bracket. This is far sturdier than the attempted 3d printed bracket, and indeed, a more sturdy design than the bracket on the other end. New parts used: De Walt clamp, pin, and handle for the bracket.

Dean supplied me with a blade for the table saw, but it's too big - with that in place it would be difficult to do small cuts, so we're still on the two-year-old blade.

Fix-Me sticker removed from fence.
