Equipment/Kiln-2
The heating elements of this kiln failed in early 2022. The manufacturer was contacted but they quoted £1000 for replacement elements, as this particular unit had stopped production. Sadly therefore, we had to accept that it's died and it is being disposed of

A metalworking kiln with various applications in heat-treating, light forging or casting of metals
No training requirement, but please seek advice from other metalshop users if you are unfamiliar with its use
This has the highest maximum temperature of hackspace's two kilns (1600°C theoretical maximum - successfully used up to 1250°C for brass casting), but has a relatively small internal cavity. Larger pieces can be heated in the Carbolite Kiln.
Not suitable for ceramics. this kiln is to be used for clean work only, it has a small void
Using the controls are non trivial (a dummies guide would be useful) the manual for the controller is here https://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/File:Kiln812.pdf
you need a 16amp extension lead to run this
