Welding training/Inductions are conducted by the Metalbashers. These sessions take 1.5 to 2 hours and are limited to 1-2 people at a time.

Given the limited amount of time the Metalbashers can devote to training please do not anticipate that you will get training "on demand".

Please do not base the planning of any project, especially academic projects for examinations, on the anticipation of getting

The welding space can only accommodate one project at a time and its on a first-come first-served basis. There is only a limited amount of MIG welding gas provided by HS, and no Argon. You will have to provide your own gas if you want to complete any significant projects. This also includes other consumables such as electrodes, welding gloves and other protection.

People who come along to the Wednesday Metalbashers and help with the running of the workshop sessions will get priority to whatever training may be available.

If you are interested, its advisable to contact the mailing list before attending to see if other Metalbashers will be attending on any given Wednesday.

The journey through this equipment will usually start with MMA or Stick for the basic skills and the move on to MIG and perhaps TIG, based on progress with the easier techniques and completed projects. Previous demonstrable experience will be taken into account.

If patience is not a virtue, you may also wish to contact these guys who also offers introductory welding sessions, which can be used to help demonstrate welding capability.

The care and training of this equipment is carried out by the metal working group.

Below are people who have had training on the welding equipment.

This page is used to track training sessions for the Welding equipment.

Don't create training sessions yourself, they are announced on the mailing list when posted.

Please don't ask for training sessions to be run, they happen as regularly as possible.

Details on training can be found at https://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/MMA_or_stick_welding

The welding includes use of both welding sticks, wire and gas, we will be charging £8 per person per session for consumables which will be paid into the HS account.
